Street Theatre Cuts Loose with Clever “[title of show]”

Where: Street Theatre Company, 6727 Charlotte Pike, Nashville

Street Theatre Cuts Loose with Clever "[title of show]"
Somewhere between all the witty jabs and inside jokes, it hits you - "[title of show]" is a small, scaled-down musical about really big dreams. Billed as "a love letter to musical theatre," the story centers on a couple of self-described "nobodies in New York," who decide to write a musical about - appropriately enough - two guys writing a musical.

Abintra was a pretty good school throughout early childhood. There were some issues, but all in all they did a good job. The upper classroom is an extreme failure, and families who were planning on staying as long as possible have been forced to find alternatives. The last few years have been a huge waste of time and money, and we would have been better off in public school.

We are anxiously awaiting the end of the year so we can leave. We were looking forward to a great experience. Much of the past year or two, we had our heads in the sand, feeling as if our family was the only one having issues, afraid to speak up or share our feelings with other families, after being made to feel by the administration, that maybe WE were the ones with the issues. Then, we discovered a dozen or more other families who were sharing the same bizarre parallel experience. What an eye opener! If we had the money, we d have left sooner. Agree with prior comments on this site. The school should find a new administrative team and start fresh. It s a shame, really. Such a physically beautiful school, going down the tubes.

The experience overall was awful. The school is a very expensive baby sitter at best. My kid did not develop a good work ethic and struggles to self motivate because of the experience received here. We had to seek outside help to get our kid ready to start a new school next year. Also, there is no diversity in student body or staff after Early Childhood.

Overall, it was bad enough to inspire us to leave on an emergent basis. I didn't feel like my children were safe intellectually or emotionally. The executive director wasn't capable or didn't want to address these concerns which from parents who came before me I now understand are not new. The board never responded to my communications with them and I feel they failed us and the many other families who left mid- year. Having landed at another school, we realize that we weren't crazy, and in fact are grateful that we left. It was an expensive journey. By no means representative of our Montessori experience from out of state.

It was pretty terrible - I haven't heard of many other private schools with tuition like Abintra's that have been so abysmal on multiple fronts. Thrilled to no longer send my money and child to this school.

I would urge any family who is considering this school to ask the director how many students they have lost in recent years. Ask how many students left mid year and ask about the retention percentages in the upper grades. Ask for solid examples of their curriculum and ask about all teacher's credentials. Ask if teachers are teaching in age groups that they are certified to teach. While it is a beautiful campus with many nice families please do not overlook the fact that children and families are shamed (and even lied to) when they speak up or disagree with something.
