Hello Friends of Belmont Boulevard, Thank yo...

Hello Friends of Belmont Boulevard, Thank you for making our first Belmont Boulevard Community Meeting a huge success! We appreciate your comments, ideas and concerns. Let’s keep the conversation going! Belmont-Hillsboro Neighbors, Inc. will host the 2nd Belmont Boulevard Traffic and Safety Community Meeting Monday, June 25 5:30-7:30 PM Christ the King School - Parish Hall 3105 Belmont Boulevard Please park in the back parking lot. Enter through the West Wing’s rear entrance of the school These are “drop-in” meetings, so stop in anytime between 5:30-7:30 PM to chat with members of Metro Planning and Public Works, BHN Steering Committee, your State and Metro representatives, and fellow neighbors. The purpose of these meetings is to work on a redesign of Belmont Boulevard that addresses serious traffic concerns such as speeding, passing in bike lanes, and driving through pedestrian crosswalks. The design team from Metro Planning and Public Works are assessing the information shared by neighbors at the first meeting and will provide more examples of proven traffic calming and usability methods that will create a safer and more complete Belmont Boulevard. The 3rd Community Meeting will be in about 3-4 weeks. All of the information collected from the first 2 Community Meetings will be compiled to create a comprehensive design that will make Belmont Boulevard safer and a more effective complete street for our neighborhood. This design will be presented at the 3rd Community Meeting (date tbd). Implementation of this design could happen as early as this fall. Please share this information with your neighbors and on social media. We have a great opportunity to create a Belmont Boulevard that will serve everyone safely and beautifully. We need everyone’s help in bringing all of these great ideas to the table and to learn about proven design options that address our collective concerns. Let’s work together to make Belmont Boulevard the Best Street in Nashville! Cynthia J. Hicks, President Belmont-Hillsboro Neighbors, Inc

Preservationist's $6-million property brought 'a little bit of England' to Franklin

The home at 2060 Hillsboro Road in the upscale Grassland neighborhood is on the market for the first time since it was built by William DePriest, a well-known businessman and advocate for historic preservation efforts who died more than a year ago.

Preservationist's $6-million property brought 'a little bit of England' to Franklin
Not many people get to live on an estate in the British Isles, but the next owner of one of Franklin's most iconic homes will be surrounded by doors and stones from castles in Scotland and throughout the United Kingdom.

Review: 'The Flick,' onstage at Verge Theater next week, is offbeat yet profound

Review: 'The Flick,' onstage at Verge Theater next week, is offbeat yet profound
At first glance, Annie Baker's "The Flick" might seem to be a simple love letter to those wonderful old movie houses of days gone by (dinosaurs in this digital age) and the quirky characters who populate them. And it's true.

5 burgers to try in Nashville
CLOSE May is National Burger Month. It's also National Salad Month, but I'm going to wait a minute on that to pay homage to the food that I love so much even cartoon versions of it make me hungry. Seriously, when I was little and watched Wimpy eating hamburgers on Popeye cartoons, I always wanted one so badly.

Theater review: Pipeline-Collective explores human connection with 'World Builders'
You may think you've seen plenty of twists on the traditional "boy-meets-girl" story. But you'd be hard-pressed to find one more original (or vibrant) than Johnna Adams' "World Builders," now on stage at Pipeline-Collective.

From our friends at HWEN: After two years of careful restoration, the Dragon Park Dragon is finally back! On May 20, HWEN will hold its annual Dragon Parade ending at the Park and celebrating the Dragon’s Grand Reopening. This work on the community-built sculpture will help weatherproof it for many years. The parade begins at 3 at the Triangle Park at the corner of Blair and Natchez Trace. Once the procession reaches the park, neighbors can enjoy an ice cream social, special children’s activities, and at 4:15, the first of four Dragon Music Sunday concerts. Fundraising for the Dragon continues, and neighbors can contribute at the Save our Dragon Website. https://www.gofundme.com/SaveOurDragon

Whether you grew up playing on it or bring friends and family to marvel at its majestic form, the mosaic dragon sculpture in Fannie Mae Dees Park serves as a beloved touchstone for generations of Nashvillians. We come here to play, run and imagine. We come here to gather, relax and restore.

CLOSE LOUISVILLE - Around this time every spring, a new crop of 2-year-olds arrives at the Bob Baffert barn in Southern California. In a given year, there may be as many as 30 or 40, nearly all of them regally bred and many of them purchased at auctions in the high six- or seven-figure range by owners who dream of winning the Kentucky Derby.
