Candlelight vigil set for homicide victim Daniel Shields at Trax bar

The vigil for 30-year-old Daniel Shields is slated for 7 p.m. on July 22 at Trax bar at 1501 Ensley Boulevard, where he worked at the time of his death.

Shields, who Metro police say is the victim of a criminal homicide, was found dead in his home in the 5100 block of Delaware Avenue on Tuesday night during a welfare check.  A Trax employee called police after Shields did not show up to work for several days.

Music City Center buys downtown land for nearly $4M in pursuit of entire city block

The Convention Center Authority's board of directors unanimously voted to buy the 0.45-acre lot at 417 Lafayette Street south of the center, with plans to tap money from the center's reserves to pay for it. The sale is valued at around $196 per square foot.

West Nashville man killed; police search for victim's stolen vehicle

Detectives in the West Precinct determined that Shields was last seen at 9:30 p.m. on July 4, leaving the Trax bar at 1501 Ensley Boulevard. They are unsure whether anyone left the bar with him.

Police said the suspect walked into Marley’s Market, 141 Lafayette St., at 1 a.m., struck the clerk from behind with a large rock and took cash from the register. The suspect fled on foot.

16-year-old arrested on suspicion of firing shots as Metro Police officer passed him

As part of the continuing investigation this afternoon in the area of Glenrose Avenue and Glenmont Drive, detectives located the 16-year-old believed to have been involved in the gunfire at his girlfriend’s residence on Glenmont Drive.

Late Monday night, OnStar reported it was tracking the stolen 2016 Escalade in the area of Hamilton Church Road and Hobson Pike. An MNPD helicopter flew into the area and tracked the SUV as ground officers headed toward it.

Driver killed after crashing into MTA bus

Police said William A. Passalacqua, 54, of Nashville, was killed after the 2002 Ford Ranger pickup truck he was driving drifted out of its lane and struck the rear of a stopped bus that was unloading passengers in the 700 block of Murfreesboro Pike.

Passalacqua was driving a 2002 Ford Ranger east in the 700 block of Murfreesboro Pike when the truck drifted out of its lane and struck the back of a stopped bus that was unloading passengers, police said.

    2 hepatitis A cases confirmed in homeless community, 26 total in Davidson Co.
    Three new cases of hepatitis A have been confirmed in Davidson County, according to the Metro Public Health Department. The new cases this week makes 26 the confirmed cases of hepatitis A since Davidson County. Four cases have been reported with inmates at the Davidson County Sheriff's Office correctional facilities and two cases have been confirmed among the homeless community.
