Another eventful and historic week in Nashville is behind us. As you well know, the transit referendum failed to pass, and by a wide margin. This is particularly disappointing to District 17, which voted to support the transit plan. But we will go back to work and continue to seek solutions to a transportation problem that is not going away.

District 17 is about to have a lot of cases coming up in front of the Board of Zoning Appeals, which meets Thursday at 1 p.m. at Howard Office Building (700 2nd Ave S.). You can see the agenda here. The three D17 items on April 5 are as follows:

An appeal for a short-term rental permit at 836 Glen Ave. I've received probably a dozen emails against this permit, and a couple in favor. At this point, I don't like the direction this is headed. I'd say if you feel strongly on this one, try to make the meeting.

An appeal to not re-do the sidewalk at 1009 Caldwell Ave. If the applicant pays into the in-lieu-of fund, I'm OK with it.

An appeal for an owner-occupied short-term rental permit at 18 Claiborne St. I've spoken with the owner and am supporting this request, as she has taken all the necessary steps to turn in her paperwork, including neighbor input/notifications.
