The property is located near other major developments, including a Whole Foods-anchored, mixed-use project planned for the former Mazda dealership at 12th Avenue and Broadway, and the $1 billion-plus Nashville Yards site at the 15-acre former LifeWay campus.

Principal buyer closes deal for Tennessean site

Raleigh, N.C.-based Highwoods, one of Nashville's biggest office landlords, is buying the property along with investor Jim Caden, whose closing date has not been set. The two buyers were selected in July to negotiate a contract for the 1100 Broadway site.

The property is located near other major developments, including a Whole Foods-anchored, mixed-use project planned for the former Mazda dealership at 12th Avenue and Broadway, and the $1 billion-plus Nashville Yards site at the 15-acre former LifeWay campus.

    CLOSE A prominent piece of Nashville history fell loud and hard Saturday, but the implosion of the LifeWay Draper Tower went as planned. "Everything went 100 percent perfect," said Steve Pettigrew, the man in charge of the implosion. "In downtown urban areas where you have glass and utilities sometimes, a lot of structure there...we just inspected it and everything looks great."

Kona Espresso Bar opens next week in the Gulch

Caffeine lovers will have another spot to get their fix in the Gulch next week when Kona Espresso Bar opens on the ground floor of the 1201 Demonbreun office building.

Kona is the first of several new coffee shop additions to the Gulch. Starbucks replaced Bond Coffee at 602 12th Ave. S., Killebrew Coffee opened at 401 11th Ave. S., and Milk & Honey — a full-service restaurant with a coffee bar — opened at 214 11th Ave. S.
