Our next District 17 meeting will be tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 10 at 8:30 a.m. at Rains Avenue Market, 106 Rains Ave. We'll talk about district updates, meet the new market owners and enjoy the delicious breakfast they're offering.

We'll have a special presentation at Hubbard House (1109 1st Ave S) at 10 a.m., with a rain location at Seay-Hubbard UMC (1116 1st Ave S). The event is a surprise, but it's exciting news!

Several of my colleagues have expressed thoughts and opinions, which we're all entitled to share. Several of you have shared your thoughts with me, which I appreciate and welcome.

So when plans are final and permits secured, putting the first shovel in the ground is a wonderful thing. This month, we did just that at 12th & Wedgewood, a formerly vacant Metro-owned lot that will soon be the home of our first private-public partnership for 160 units of workforce housing." Envision Edgehill will host a community storytelling tour around Edgehill from 2 to 4 p.m. Vans will leave from Edgehill Library (1409 12th Ave S) every 15 minutes. Hot cocoa, tea and pastries will be provided.

New workforce housing complex coming to Edgehill

The new complex sits at the corner of 12th Avenue South and Wedgewood. It will have 160 units with different floorplans and one- and two-bedroom apartments.

It's something we've been tracking in our Nashville 2018 project, looking at how the city is handling the epic growth that affects all of us.     This week, Major League Soccer awarded Nashville an MLS franchise, which will play at a 27,500-seat, soccer-specific stadium at The Fairgrounds Nashville. Nashville beat out 11 other cities across the country for the franchise, which is owned primarily by Nashville businessman John Ingram.
