Throughout her childhood and adolescence, Christoph's father was the director of international students at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Fisk University opens 'World War I and The Great Migration'

The show is up through April 7.  Carl Van Vechten Gallery is at 1000 17th Ave N.  Its hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Saturday.  Admission is free.

    In its latest exhibition, Fisk University's Carl Van Vechten Gallery commemorates the 100th anniversary of America's entry into WWI and highlights its role in The Great Migration. To escape harsh segregationist laws and inequitable economic opportunity, millions of African-Americans relocated from the rural south to the urban centers of the North, Midwest, and West between 1916-1970.

12-year-old charged in Nashville attempted carjacking of Mt. Juliet woman

Responding officers located the 12-year-old running in the area of 18th Avenue North and Hayes Street.  The victim and a witness each identified the 12-year-old as one of the two persons involved.

    CLOSE A 12-year-old boy has been charged with the armed attempted carjacking of a Mt. Juliet woman Monday night near the intersection of 20th Avenue North and Church Street. The 12-year-old is one of two people involved in the alleged attempted carjacking with another person's identity not yet known.
