Based on the 1972 book and popular film adaptations, "Freaky Friday" centers on an overworked mom and teenage daughter who gain a new appreciation for one another when they magically swap bodies.

The New Year's Eve show is at 9 p.m. (doors open at 8 p.m.) at Music Valley Event Center, 2416 Music Valley Dr. Tickets are $5, available at door or by calling 615-902-9566. 

It runs at  8 p.m. Friday and 7 p.m. Saturday at Third Coast Comedy Club, 1310 Clinton St., Suite 121. Tickets are $12, available at www.thirdcoastcomedy.club.

An opening reception will be held 5-8 p.m. Saturday. The show runs through Jan. 27.  David Lusk is at 516 Hagan St.  Its hours are 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.  Admission is free.

President Donald Trump tanks in Tennessee, new poll shows

The Fall 2017 Vanderbilt-Poll Tennessee shows that Trumps approval rating fell from 60 percent in November 2016 to 48 percent a year later. Corker’s approval rating dropped from 60 percent in November 2016 to 47 percent this year.

First African-American SEC scholarship athlete, Perry Wallace passes at age 69
