    Geist Bar + Restaurant: where the spirit of the past is honored and a new chapter in a building's life begins. The 118-year old brick structure on Jefferson Street housed John Geist and Sons, a blacksmith shop that morphed with the times, from horse shoeing to decorative ironwork forging to lawn mower repair, before closing in 2006.

    Dabble Studio, a Germantown neighborhood outfit that combines food with art, is hosting a self-styled "FUNdraiser" to benefit the National Alliance on Mental Illness Davidson County. All proceeds from the painting class, titled "Put Your HeART Into It," will benefit NAMI Davidson County in recognition of May as Mental Health Awareness Month.

    CLOSE Neighbors of Sylvan Park, a "Cheers"-style neighborhood sports bar with live music and trivia, is expanding seven years after planting its roots on Nashville's west side. The bar will open a second location this summer in Germantown in the former Lulu restaurant space at 313 Jefferson St.
