WEST PRECINCT ANNUAL COMMUNITY MEETING at 6:30 PM, MONDAY, FEBRUARY 26 at the West Police Precinct, 5500 Charlotte Pike. CRIME & SAFETY UPDATE: We had standing room only for last week’s crime & safety discussion in Green Hills. Thank you to everyone who came out. Midtown Hills Precinct - Metropolitan Nashville Police Departmentalong with West Precinct shared that Police Chief Steve Anderson had established a 16-officer task force to focus specifically on and address the recent increase in area crimes and armed incidents by groups of male youth in stolen vehicles in and around Nashville. Good to see several press releases from MNPD last week after this meeting that various juveniles thought to be involved or possibly associated with these crimes have been apprehended. Investigations are ongoing. As always, please: 1) remain aware of your surroundings, especially in the evenings, walk only in well lit areas and do so with a companion whenever possible. Report street light outages to hub.nashville.gov or dial 311 or 615-862-5000. 2) don’t hesitate to call Metro Police’s non-emergency number at 615-862-8600, if someone or something looks out of place or suspicious in your neighborhood or place of business. By calling you are not accusing those you’ve observed of illegal behavior, you are simply providing a potential piece in a larger puzzle. This is helpful to police. Be sure to provide police with color, make and model of vehicle and license plate when possible. 3) lock your cars. Even in your driveway. Make sure your home lighting shines on your parked car(s) or is motion activated. Remove all visible things of value from your car, including spare change, sunglasses, running shoes, shopping bags. DO NOT keep a house key or gun in your car. Lock all doors and windows into your garage. Again, there is another opportunity to meet with MNPD at the annual WEST PRECINCT COMMUNITY MEETING at 6:30 PM, MONDAY, FEBRUARY 26 at the West Police Precinct, 5500 Charlotte Pike. Bring your questions and concerns, meet other neighborhood leaders interested in crime and safety, and hear from detectives, patrol officers, community affairs and Commander Marlene Pardue. Hope to see District 34 neighbors living west of Hillsboro Pike (served by West Precinct) there.
