On this Holocaust Remembrance Day, we are so honored to be able to share the Violins of Hope with our community. Today, a select number of the Violins of Hope visited Blair School of Music. Tomorrow, student John Horzen will perform a klezmer piece with this violin as part of a concert at Turner Hall. Here's a quick video of a jam session that took place today.

A message from Burkley Allen - Metro Council ...
A message from Burkley Allen - Metro Council District 18: Dear Neighbors, Vanderbilt University is piloting a bike share program beginning this week that will likely extend into the Hillsboro Village area. Unlike Metro's BCycle program where the bikes are returned to a kiosk like the one at the corner of 21st and Wedgewood, these bikes can be driven directly to a destination and parked anywhere. The program is run by ofo, the world’s largest dockless bike-sharing platform, with a fleet of more than 10 million bikes in more than 250 cities and 200 campuses across 21 countries. ofo strives to empower “anyone, anywhere” with access to sustainable, convenient, and affordable transportation options. The service is simple. Riders download the ofo app, scan the QR code on the bike to unlock and go, and park the bike at any bike friendly location such as a bike rack or in the furniture zone of the sidewalk (the space where a bench is). The program is largely for Vanderbilt students, but neighbors may be able to download the app and join as well. The designated area for the bikes will consist mostly of the Vanderbilt campus, but will also include areas frequented by students, so neighbors might start seeing ofo bikes around the area. This is a new concept, and we expect to learn as we go, so please let me know if you see issues that need to be addressed or if you just have observations and comments. Regards, Burkley Allen Metro Council 18th District 615-383-6604

**Village 21 construction** The final phase of the Village 21 Apartments project at the Corner of Wedgewood and 21st is underway. This involves the construction of a restaurant where the bank parking lot used to be. The work for the shell of the building will continue through mid-summer with a goal of opening the restaurant in October. The owner has agreed to accommodate parking for the labor forces within their parking garage during construction so there should be no negative impact on parking in the Village. The sidewalks on both 21st and Wedgewood will stay open full time during construction. It will be necessary to reduce the sidewalk widths in the immediate area surrounding the work. A permanent fence will be installed in areas where the sidewalk width will be reduced protecting the walking public from the work, and the bike racks and bus stop on Wedgewood will be moved slightly north during construction to assure they have the room to continue to operate properly. Thanks to Burkley Allen - Metro Council District 18 for this update.
