Tennessean relocation advances with $6M sale of newsprint storage facility

The Tennessean's cluster of buildings based at 1100 Broadway since the 1930s will be vacated by next year.

The nondescript front of the light-industrial building is located at 1100 McGavock Street on the northern edge of the Gulch. Its roof is used as a Tennessean parking lot next to Exxon gas station and Tiger Mart convenience store at 1111 Broadway.

    The Tennessean's newsprint storage warehouse was sold for $6.3 million on Thursday, marking the latest step in the media leader's relocation to new facilities more suitable to its growing digital operation. The deal has closed nearly a year after developer Jim Caden was selected as the buyer last summer.
