As a big proponent of Montessori education, I strongly feel this is a goldmine for MNPS. It provides Montessori education for families who would not have the funds or opportunity to learn in this environment. The downside to this is trying to put this learning format within the standardized public school standards and testing requirements, resulting in a lighter Montessori approach, which is understood but rather unfortunate. The measurement of its success cannot be accurately measured through testing score, as what is shown on this website. Montessori, even in light form, is a wonderful way to not only approach academics, but to also instill self-motivation and pride for one's self and work. The multi age classrooms are wonderful as well. It instills a sense of community, as well as being a good and thoughtful citizen. Additionally, student are able to learn more thoroughly from both their teachers and classmates, and through demonstration of lessons students retain more information. There is, unfortunately, no middle school option or direct pathway at this time, which I hope the district will consider for the future. Studies consistently show that hands on, experience based learning works tremendously well, which is the foundation of Montessori education. You will find a wonderful glimpse of this in this school, and it is a wonderful school in which to support and have our children attend.

Montessori curriculum is great at teaching your child basic problem-solving skills and allows your child to be a free thinker, which is essential to success in life. It focuses on the needs of the child and helps them deal with emotions, while becoming independent. I love the level of parental involvement and the diversity of this school (racially and economically). The principal, teachers and staff show strong commitment to the children. Although Montessori isn t for every child, I would highly recommend this for any child showing initiative in their learning and who is confident in their abilities. The major downside is this is a MNPS school and therefore not completely Montessori-driven, but the staff does an excellent job in closely practing the curriculum as much as administration allows. Overall excellent experience and perfect transition from Vanderbilt daycare, which provides a similar curriculum.
