From Councilwoman Burkley Allen: Council member Sledge and I have made arrangements for a community meeting to talk about proposed traffic control options at the intersection of Granny White and Gale Lane. The Traffic and Parking Commission agreed to defer the vote on a proposed traffic light so that we could discuss other options. Please join us next Wednesday, November 29 at 6 pm at the Midtown Hills police precinct (1441 12th Ave S) to hear from Metro Public Works about the traffic data at the intersection and the options for making the intersection safer. Those could include the current 2 way stop, a 4 way stop, a traffic light, a roundabout, or other creative ideas we haven't come up with yet. We welcome your ideas and input.

From Councilwoman Burkley Allen: Many neighbors have complained to me about safety issues at the intersection of Granny White and Gale Lane. District 17 Council member Colby Sledge joined me in passing on the neighbors’ repeated request for a four way stop to the Metro traffic engineers. To our surprise the engineers responded with a proposal for a traffic signal, which will go before the Traffic and Parking Commission on November 13. Neighbors can voice support or concern by e-mail or in person at the meeting, but they also have the opportunity to ask questions and join the discussion at the regular 12th South Neighborhood meeting, which will take place on Monday, November 6 at the Sevier Park Community Center at 6:30. 12SNA has agreed to put this on their agenda and welcome visitors from District 18 (the west side of 12th South.)
