Fisk University opens 'World War I and The Great Migration'

The show is up through April 7.  Carl Van Vechten Gallery is at 1000 17th Ave N.  Its hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Saturday.  Admission is free.

It runs through Saturday at The Darkhorse Theater, 4610 Charlotte Ave., Nashville. Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday. Tickets are $12 at the door. Call 615-476-6430 for information or visit www.sistastyleproductions.com or darkhorsetheater.com.

Final performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Lipscomb University’s Shamblin Theatre, 4001 Granny White Pike, Nashville.Tickets are $5-$15 (free for Lipscomb students), available at 615-966-7075.

Vanderbilt Divinity School is at 411 21st Ave S.  Its hours are noon-2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Admission is free.

    In its latest exhibition, Fisk University's Carl Van Vechten Gallery commemorates the 100th anniversary of America's entry into WWI and highlights its role in The Great Migration. To escape harsh segregationist laws and inequitable economic opportunity, millions of African-Americans relocated from the rural south to the urban centers of the North, Midwest, and West between 1916-1970.
