Review: 'Love Never Dies' offers stunning design and performances, but little substance
There's something rather fitting about the Coney Island sideshow setting of "Love Never Dies," Andrew Lloyd Webber's much-anticipated sequel to "The Phantom of the Opera." Its haunting melodies and lavish production values certainly conjure up all the mystery and mayhem of a summer boardwalk. But, alas, the magic is fleeting.

Review: 'Waitress' serves up sweet, heartfelt treat at TPAC

Review: 'Waitress' serves up sweet, heartfelt treat at TPAC
"Waitress" arrived at TPAC 's Jackson Hall Tuesday night, delivering one of the sweetest treats of the season. Inspired by Adrienne Shelly's beloved 2007 film (and brought to life by a groundbreaking all-female creative team), this heartfelt musical centers on a small-town waitress and expert pie maker named Jenna, who is looking to re-imagine her life and escape her loveless marriage.

Sara Bareilles, Desi Oakley Share Recipe for Theatre Magic in 'Waitress'
To say that Sara Bareilles is having a busy year would be something of an understatement. So far in 2018, the six-time Grammy nominee has stepped back into the coveted role of Jenna Hunterson in the hit Broadway musical "Waitress" (for which she created the music and lyrics, earning a Tony nomination in 2016), portrayed Mary Magdalene in NBC's "Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert," and picked up another Tony nomination for her work on "SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical."
