One of the exhibits on display at the Frist Art Museum right now is We Shall Overcome, a display of photographs taken by The Tennessean and the Nashville Banner during the 1950s and 1960s, one of the most tumultuous times in our country's history. At the time, the two papers were seen as competitors.

Nashville Humane Association is at Downtown S...

Please meet Available2Adopt PENNY: Penny recently visited Downtown Subaru to let our friends and supporters there know that she will be available to adopt this week at #CMAFest! Penny’s tail is wagging that Nashville Humane Association is partnering with Miranda Lambert's MuttNation to participate in the MuttNation CMA Fest Adoption Event at Nashville Music City Center June 7th, 8th, 9th & 10th. Who agrees Penny looks cool hanging out in this “Cool Grey Khaki” 2018 CrossTrek??? More about Penny… Penny was living in a rural county shelter with her puppies before moving to NHA. The shelter they were in was overcrowded and Nashville Humane Association was called to see if we had room for them all. NHA did and they all move here together. Not much is known about Penny’s history before moving to NHA, but since moving to NHA, one can’t help but notice how SWEET SHE IS! Penny’s adorable puppies have all been adopted (YAY) and Penny is currently being treated for heartworms. She’s currently not allowed to run, hike, jump, or romp, but may still go for short walks on a leash. Which, by the way, she adores. When she gets adopted, her new family will get instructions from NHA’s Vet Services Team about her future follow up treatment (which is covered by NHA's Have A Heart Program) Penny is always happy. Always. That’s her. 100%. She’s a happy girl looking for a happy home filled with love, outside adventures, inside snuggle time, and an endless supply of daily kisses on her big forehead. She is so ready to be someone’s unconditional love. Her tail wags like a propeller tail just thinking about the day she will have her very own forever family to call her own. So please come meet her at CMA Fest. You can’t miss Penny – She’ll be the girl with the BIG SMILE on her face ready to be YOUR Good Luck Charm! For more details how to adopt PENNY or any of her shelter friends here at NHA, please call 615.352.1010 or visit 213 Oceola Avenue, located in West Nashville. Thank You. Name – PENNY Adoption Fee – $45.00 Breed – Pit Bull Mix Age – 5 years old Sex – Spayed Female Weight – 62 pounds

CLOSE It is T-shirt time - yes, the third annual "Ms. Cheap T-shirt Drive for the Homeless" is underway. I don't literally want the shirt off your back, but I would love to have all of those T-shirts that you are not wearing (or sentimentally saving) to donate to Room in the Inn to give away to its homeless clients throughout the sweaty summer months.

Plan Bravo?

...were secretly floating mass transit alongside new convention centers and arenas when I worked at 1100 Broadway. I saw the drawings then. We didn't think those would happen in our lifetimes...

    Plan Bravo?
Okay, I thought the vote would be closer than what we got. I was not expecting a victory for transit, but geez... Once upon a time I was a card-carrying, hyphen-loving non-shill for local business-oriented types. I'm still friendly with that crowd (but more friendly with the free thinkers trying to overthrow the patriarchy...don't tell them!)

Construction on Rolling Mill Hill's newest development is off and running

The project will have similarities to Eakin's 1201 Demonbreun building near the Gulch, with wide-open floor plans and a mostly glass exterior. Inside, a fitness center, coffee shop, bank branch and full-service restaurant are planned.

CLOSE Construction is underway on the latest development at downtown's Rolling Mill Hill, where a renaissance has brought new shops, restaurants and apartment buildings to the 34-acre complex over the past decade. Crews are now digging up nearly 3 acres of dirt behind a blue temporary fence on a former parking lot behind the red-brick trolley barns.

Everyone knows you long-distance runner-warriors need to pile on those carbs for energy. Those of us for whom "marathon" is generally preceded by "Netflix" also need our energy.
